Biomechanical Assessment

Often the causes of foot and leg pain can be associated with our anatomical structure. Our sports Podiatrist assesses patients with functional anatomical problems including excessive pronation, ‘flat feet’, heel pain, knee and hip pain. Including examining the joints of the foot and lower limb, assess the range and quality of movement, inspect soft tissue structures and isolate the causes of pain or dysfunction.

This usually takes 1 hour, and patients are advised to bring a range of footwear, and wear shorts/athletic clothing.

Custom made Orthoses

We specialise in custom made insoles, or Orthotics, which support, realign and/or redistribute the pressure of walking or running, to improve gait, posture and joint function. Both in the treatment of many conditions, and also in prevention of future injuries.

Our orthotics are made not only to measurements and photos of your feet but actual moulds taken of your feet, meaning such a perfect fit, that they would mean years of comfort!

Diagnostic Ultrasound scan

Ultrasound scanning, or Sonography is the best image modality to view soft tissue injuries, these include, muscle injuries, tendon pathology, and ligament injury. Most soft tissue injuries should be scanned, both to improve accurancy of clinical diagnosis, and determine the severity of the injury, which will direct the treatment plan. The scanner can also be used to accurately administer injection therapy, to a specific site, to reduce pain, or increase healing.

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT)

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is a treatment used in physical therapy, using pulses of mechanical energy, similar to soundwaves, causing microtrauma which stimulates new cell growth.

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy is used to treat a growing number of tendon, joint and muscle conditions, including Achilles and Patellar tendinopathy, and Plantar fasciitis.

Double blind studies produce excellent results, patients reporting reduced pain and faster healing, without significant adverse side effects.

ESWT is also used to promote bone healing and treat bone necrosis, It is an effective alternative to surgical treatment of non-healing fractures.
